By now you’ve probably heard of MSN Spaces. If you haven’t, and you’ve ever considered starting up your own blog, you should definitely check it out. If you use Hotmail or MSN messenger you’ve already got a Microsoft Passport, so it will probably take about five minutes for even the least technical of people to get up to speed on the interface and have their own little home on the web setup.
If you’re looking for the type of full featured blog you’d have with a self-hosted site like pickabar or a paid service like typepad, MSN Spaces probably isn’t for you. But if you just want a free space to share your thoughts, pictures, and that kind of stuff it’s definitely worth a look. The integration with Hotmail and MSN Messenger is also pretty good.
The best part of MSN Spaces as compared to something like Google’s Blogger Service? Some of the folks who built the service are using it to blog themselves as a way to interact with MSN Spaces users. That’s right, you can read the inside scoop on the service, and even share feedback with the guys who are actually running things. Nice!
Now you have no excuse to forward that email!
Of course there has been the customary, everything Microsoft does is evil handwringing floating around the blogosphere.
