Gizmodo has a post today about issues with the new Time Warner PVR. I’ve had mine a couple of weeks now without any major problems. I work at home a lot of the time, as well, which means it’s been getting a lot of work. One reboot, and one period just out of the blackout where it would say it was going to record and not record (a reboot solved it).
Maybe I just have low expectations, but I’m delighted with it so far. I could recommend about a dozen changes to the UI (say, a lookup by title for only today), and I’ve had a few bumps in the road, but nothing I didn’t expect as an early adopter. Maybe that’s because I’ve never had a Tivo or one of the other more mature devices.
I’d bet the original poster just got a lemon.
As for the slow channel changes, I haven’t flipped old school style since I got my first digital box. It would be nice if there wasn’t such a delay, but I rarely encounter it during the course of my dailing watching.
